Alors que 24 candidatures avaient initialement \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9pos\u00e9es, seules treize, dont onze hommes et deux femmes, ont \u00e9t\u00e9 valid\u00e9es par la commission \u00e9lectorale. Deux candidats se d\u00e9marquent comme favoris : le vice-pr\u00e9sident et candidat du parti au pouvoir, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, et l&rsquo;ancien pr\u00e9sident John Mahama, repr\u00e9sentant du principal parti d&rsquo;opposition, le National Democratic Congress (NDC).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">Les principaux favoris : Mahamudu Bawumia et John Mahama<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Le Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, 56 ans, actuel ministre de l&rsquo;\u00c9nergie et ancien ministre de l&rsquo;\u00c9ducation, est le porte-drapeau du Nouveau Parti Patriotique (NPP). Connu pour son style affirm\u00e9, Bawumia a suscit\u00e9 la controverse en raison de ses \u00e9changes tendus avec les journalistes et certains membres de l&rsquo;opposition, qui le qualifient parfois d&rsquo;\u00ab arrogants \u00bb. Le NPP le d\u00e9crit toutefois comme \u00ab assertif et confiant \u00bb. Sa campagne se concentre sur la num\u00e9risation de l&rsquo;\u00e9conomie et une r\u00e9duction des imp\u00f4ts pour stimuler la croissance \u00e9conomique.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Face \u00e0 lui, John Mahama, ancien pr\u00e9sident du Ghana, revient dans l&rsquo;ar\u00e8ne politique. \u00c9lu pr\u00e9sident en 2012 apr\u00e8s le d\u00e9c\u00e8s de son pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent, John Evans Atta Mills, Mahama avait perdu en 2016 face \u00e0 Nana Akufo-Addo. Il se pr\u00e9sente \u00e0 nouveau pour offrir aux \u00e9lecteurs une politique alternative. Promettant de faire fonctionner l&rsquo;\u00e9conomie 24 heures sur 24 pour combattre le ch\u00f4mage et d&rsquo;adopter un gouvernement all\u00e9gu\u00e9, Mahama met \u00e9galement sur son exp\u00e9rience pour attirer les votes, notamment dans les r\u00e9gions du Nord, son fief.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Des figures ind\u00e9pendantes et autres candidats notables<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Alan Kyerematen, ancien ministre de l&rsquo;Industrie et candidat malheureux des primaires du NPP, fait parti des quatre candidats ind\u00e9pendants. \u00c0 ses c\u00f4t\u00e9s, Nana Kwame Bediako, connue sous le nom de Cheddar, un homme d&rsquo;affaires influent et jeune, m\u00e8ne une campagne singuli\u00e8re qui a d\u00e9but\u00e9 de mani\u00e8re anonyme sur les r\u00e9seaux sociaux avant de d\u00e9voiler sa candidature en d\u00e9but d&rsquo;ann\u00e9e.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">D&rsquo;autres candidats incluent Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu, ex-chef de la majorit\u00e9 au Parlement, et Frema Osei Opare, actuelle cheffe de cabinet, ajoutant ainsi de la diversit\u00e9 \u00e0 ce cours politique.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">Contexte politique et enjeux<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Le Dr Bawumia b\u00e9n\u00e9ficie d&rsquo;un soutien fort du NPP, qui cherche \u00e0 consolider sa base \u00e9lectorale. Sa nomination comme candidat s&rsquo;inscrit dans une strat\u00e9gie visant \u00e0 renforcer la pr\u00e9sence du parti dans les r\u00e9gions cl\u00e9s, en particulier dans le Nord. L&rsquo;opposition, quant \u00e0 elle, esp\u00e8re tirer profit des difficult\u00e9s rencontr\u00e9es par le gouvernement sortant, notamment en mati\u00e8re d&rsquo;infrastructures et de gestion \u00e9conomique.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Pour certains observateurs, l&rsquo;enjeu principal de cette \u00e9lection est de savoir si les Ghan\u00e9ens optent pour la continuit\u00e9 avec le NPP ou pour un retour \u00e0 la politique de John Mahama, qui a une promesse de r\u00e9formes \u00e9conomiques audacieuses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">La commission \u00e9lectorale a annonc\u00e9 avoir invalid\u00e9 onze candidatures pour des erreurs dans les formulaires, une d\u00e9cision refl\u00e9t\u00e9e par plusieurs candidats disqualifi\u00e9s qui envisageaient de contester cette d\u00e9cision en justice. Par ailleurs, avec la mont\u00e9e en puissance des r\u00e9seaux sociaux, les candidats ind\u00e9pendants comme Cheddar ont su capter l&rsquo;attention des jeunes \u00e9lecteurs, marquant ainsi un tournant dans la communication politique au Ghana.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Alors que les campagnes se prolongent, la course s&rsquo;annonce serr\u00e9e entre les principaux partis.
