Siby, Bagassi, Pompo\u00ef\u2026 ces noms ne d\u00e9signaient pas seulement des localit\u00e9s, mais des carrefours de vie, des poumons \u00e9conomiques, des lieux o\u00f9 se tissait le lien social. Aujourd\u2019hui, ces gares ne sont plus que des carcasses abandonn\u00e9es, rong\u00e9es par le temps et l\u2019oubli. Comment en est-on arriv\u00e9 l\u00e0 ?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Au c\u0153ur de cette lente d\u00e9liquescence se trouve un tournant majeur : le Programme d\u2019ajustement structurel des ann\u00e9es 1990, notamment celui de 1995. Sous l\u2019impulsion du Fonds mon\u00e9taire international et de la Banque mondiale, le Burkina Faso, comme de nombreux pays africains, s\u2019est engag\u00e9 dans une s\u00e9rie de r\u00e9formes visant \u00e0 lib\u00e9raliser son \u00e9conomie. Sur le papier, l\u2019objectif \u00e9tait clair : rationaliser les d\u00e9penses publiques, am\u00e9liorer l\u2019efficacit\u00e9 des entreprises et stimuler la croissance. Mais dans les faits, ces politiques ont souvent \u00e9t\u00e9 appliqu\u00e9es sans tenir suffisamment compte des r\u00e9alit\u00e9s locales.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Le chemin de fer, infrastructure strat\u00e9gique mais jug\u00e9e peu rentable dans certaines zones, a \u00e9t\u00e9 l\u2019un des premiers secteurs \u00e0 subir les effets de cette cure d\u2019aust\u00e9rit\u00e9. La logique \u00e9conomique a pris le pas sur la logique sociale. R\u00e9sultat : des gares ferm\u00e9es, des lignes d\u00e9laiss\u00e9es, et des milliers de citoyens brutalement coup\u00e9s de ce qui constituait leur principal levier d\u2019activit\u00e9.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Pendant que certaines portions du r\u00e9seau continuaient de fonctionner, notamment en C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire, le c\u00f4t\u00e9 burkinab\u00e8 s\u2019enfon\u00e7ait dans une marginalisation progressive. Le rail, autrefois trait d\u2019union entre les territoires, est devenu une ligne de fracture. Ce d\u00e9s\u00e9quilibre n\u2019est pas anodin : il traduit une perte de souverainet\u00e9 \u00e9conomique et une incapacit\u00e9 \u00e0 pr\u00e9server des infrastructures essentielles au d\u00e9veloppement national.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Mais au-del\u00e0 des chiffres et des politiques, ce sont des vies qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 boulevers\u00e9es. La fermeture des gares a entra\u00een\u00e9 la disparition de micro-\u00e9conomies locales : petits commerces, transporteurs, producteurs agricoles\u2026 Tous d\u00e9pendaient de ce flux ferroviaire pour \u00e9couler leurs produits et maintenir leur activit\u00e9. Priv\u00e9es de ce moteur, de nombreuses localit\u00e9s ont vu leur dynamisme s\u2019\u00e9teindre progressivement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Et lorsque l\u2019\u00e9conomie structur\u00e9e s\u2019effondre, d\u2019autres formes d\u2019activit\u00e9s prennent le relais. L\u2019orpaillage, en particulier, s\u2019est impos\u00e9 comme une alternative. Attirante par ses promesses de gains rapides, cette activit\u00e9 est devenue un refuge pour des populations en qu\u00eate de survie. Mais \u00e0 quel prix ? L\u2019or nourrit les poches, certes, mais il abandonne les terres, d\u00e9laisse l\u2019agriculture et fragilise les \u00e9quilibres sociaux. Il remplace une \u00e9conomie de production par une \u00e9conomie d\u2019extraction, souvent informelle et pr\u00e9caire.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Face \u00e0 ce constat, une question s\u2019impose : o\u00f9 est pass\u00e9e la promesse d\u00e9mocratique ? L\u2019av\u00e8nement de la d\u00e9mocratie portait en lui l\u2019espoir d\u2019un renouveau, d\u2019une meilleure prise en compte des aspirations populaires. Pourtant, sur le terrain, les changements peinent \u00e0 se mat\u00e9rialiser. Pire, certains choix politiques semblent avoir prolong\u00e9, voire aggrav\u00e9, les effets des d\u00e9cisions pass\u00e9es. L\u2019absence de politiques volontaristes pour r\u00e9habiliter le r\u00e9seau ferroviaire ou revitaliser les zones rurales en est une illustration frappante.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Ces gares abandonn\u00e9es ne sont pas de simples vestiges du pass\u00e9. Elles sont le miroir d\u2019un \u00e9chec collectif, le symbole d\u2019un d\u00e9veloppement d\u00e9s\u00e9quilibr\u00e9 qui laisse des pans entiers du territoire en marge. Elles racontent une histoire que l\u2019on pr\u00e9f\u00e8re parfois taire : celle d\u2019un pays qui, en cherchant \u00e0 se conformer \u00e0 des mod\u00e8les \u00e9conomiques ext\u00e9rieurs, a perdu une partie de ses fondations internes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Faut-il pour autant c\u00e9der au fatalisme ? Certainement pas. Car derri\u00e8re ces ruines subsiste un potentiel immense. R\u00e9habiliter les gares, repenser le transport ferroviaire, investir dans les infrastructures rurales : autant de pistes qui pourraient redonner vie \u00e0 ces territoires oubli\u00e9s. Il ne s\u2019agit pas seulement de restaurer des b\u00e2timents, mais de reconstruire un tissu \u00e9conomique et social, de redonner espoir \u00e0 des populations longtemps laiss\u00e9es pour compte.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Le Burkina Faso a toujours su faire preuve de r\u00e9silience. Mais la r\u00e9silience ne doit pas devenir une excuse pour l\u2019inaction. Elle doit \u00eatre le point de d\u00e9part d\u2019une r\u00e9flexion profonde sur les choix de d\u00e9veloppement. Car un pays ne se construit pas uniquement sur des indicateurs macro\u00e9conomiques, mais sur la vitalit\u00e9 de ses territoires, sur la dignit\u00e9 de ses citoyens, sur sa capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 ne laisser personne au bord du chemin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Les gares en ruine nous interpellent. Elles nous rappellent que le progr\u00e8s ne vaut que s\u2019il est partag\u00e9. Et que derri\u00e8re chaque d\u00e9cision \u00e9conomique, il y a des vies, des histoires, des espoirs.
